Chairman's Message

At Longview we have two principal goals:  

- to do the best possible job of protecting and building our clients’ capital;  and
- to work only with colleagues who we like, trust and admire.

We build our clients’ capital by investing in the securities of a select number of high quality public companies when they are trading for less than our estimate of their true value. We believe that a value-based strategy and disciplined processes are the best way to earn superior long-term investment returns. So long as the businesses do not become overvalued, we are comfortable holding them for the long run. This postpones the payment of capital gains tax.  All of us at Longview own the same investments as our clients. We not only eat our own cooking – we profit from doing so.

The decision to work only with people we like, trust and admire is an easy one. Life is too short to do otherwise. The members of our firm are individuals with high integrity, who lead happy and successful lives and always put the interests of our clients first.

To date our investment returns have been strong in both relative and absolute terms (see Investment Returns). This website describes how we achieve investment success as well as the services we provide to our clients. I hope you will have a chance to explore it.
